What is a divan bed?
A divan bed acts as a platform for a mattress and will traditionally contain drawers for additional storage. They often have castors, making them one of the most straightforward bed bases to move around your bedroom.
What about storage?
Divan beds with drawers offer two drawers or four drawers. A king with four drawers will either have two sets of different sizes or four equal-sized drawers.
However, if you decide to go for a single bed but want storage, you will only have the option to have it on one side.
What types of bases are available?
Divan bases come in two styles – sprung top and platform. A sprung has built-in pocket springs to offer a softer and more cushioned base for your mattress. Platform bases have a solid panelled top which provides firm support and a sturdy base for your mattress.
Does a divan bed come with a mattress?
If you choose a divan bed, it will not come with a mattress. If you need a mattress, choose one from our vast and luxurious collections. If you haven't changed your mattress in the past seven to eight years, we recommend you to get a new one. Divan beds are available with both pocket spring or latex mattresses.
What size should I get?
Our sizes start from single which are 3'0 wide, up to a spacious, super king which is 6'0 wide. We also offer a range of king bed bases which are 5'0 wide.
Do divans take up lots of space?
Divans don't take up as much room as most other styles of bed. They are the same width as the mattress that goes on them.
Are divans quiet?
When you need a restful night's sleep, there is nothing more annoying than a squeaky bed. A divan bed is precisely what you're looking for, because they are quieter than metal and wooden bed frames.
Do divan beds break easily?
Our divans are made from solid timber wood and conform to trading standards which ensure they're more than stable.
How much weight can divans hold?
Divans can hold a total weight limit of 50 stone, meaning it is exceptionally sturdy.
